“Rumination” explores mental health in connection to our bodies’ attunement to the natural world, using historical Japanese sustainable-craft technologies. Hatanaka’s large-scale printed-paper textile works attest to the resilience of 1000-year old paper practices, and thematically draws from her personal experiences with bipolar disorder.
